Welcome
Hamilton
Occupational Health Nurses Association (HOHNA) is a not for profit professional
association comprised of members working in Occupational Health, retired
members and others actively pursuing a new career in Occupational Health
Nursing. HOHNA meets regularly for professional development and networking.
Occupational
Health Nurses (OHN’s) play an integral role in the prevention of
illnesses and injuries, and the promotion and maintenance of health. OHN’s
are Registered Nurses with specialized education and / or experience in
Occupational Health Nursing.
The
primary role of the occupational health nurse is to coordinate the delivery
of comprehensive, equitable, quality occupational health services for
workers and worker groups. The context for practice is dynamic and influenced
by health policy, cultural, social, economic, political, technological,
and environmental issues (American Association of Occupational Health
Nurses, 1994).
